SPRING COUNCIL

May 4-6 @ Huntington Chapel

BYINGTON

Hello from Byington, we have been having some really good services and are excited about Spring Council this weekend, we are also looking forward to our 6th Annual Homecoming May 31st – June 2nd @ 7:30pm nightly with Dane Knapp preaching and local talent singing.

On Sunday June 3rd we will have an all-day service with dinner at noon and songfest @ 2:00pm and a baptism will follow.

See you at council!

FERREE GILEAD

Hello everyone we pray that your Easter was as wonderful as ours.  We had a great turn out for our Easter program.  There many special songs that were sung.  Greg & Darlene sung, “When the Angels Cried” and “As far the East is to the West,” Erin Fouts sung, “I need a Savior,” Kenny Roberts sung, “Fit for a King,” Brittany Conley sung, “Jesus take the Wheel.”

Sandy Blankenship, Jessie Reed and the youth did a skit and the theme was about not being selfish.  The smaller children had Easter poems, Jessie Reed, Will Reed and Christen Blankenship did a skit called, “This is the stuff.”  Our Ferree Gilead puppets, Katie and Gus were with us again on Easter and the theme was about how our good works cannot save us but the grace of can.  Praise the Lord!

We are so blessed to have a young man in our church that has been called to preach.  Please pray for Adam Smith.  Adam is very shy and is a man of few words.  However his first sermon he preached was very good.  We teased Adam because he preached for about thirty minutes that he spoke more words in those thirty minutes than the last five years we have known him.

Pastor Dave has started the book of James.  We love how our pastor takes us through the Bible one verse at a time.   He does not take one verse out of context but allows the passages speak for themselves.  Pastor Dave does not give us his interpretation or someone else’s but he teaches that “Scripture interprets Scripture.”  We have really been getting blessed by the sermon series that was started this month on worship.  The first sermon has many people still thinking.  The title was, “Is Jesus a hobby or your life?”

Come support our Garage Sale and bake sale Friday, Saturday 4th and 5th 8am-3pm.  We are raising funds for some new basements windows.  Praise the Lord we have reached our ministry fund goal of 5000 dollars.  We are now in the process of getting the right type of equipment that will be used to equip, encourage and instruct God’s people. Remember we cannot do everything but we all can do something.  God bless from your friends at Ferree Gilead.

MAPLE GROVE

Hello once again fromMaple Grove. I hope this month of April, finds everyone well, both physically and spiritualy. This month we reverenced and gave glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the ultimate sacrifice that He made onCalvary’s cross.Golgotha’s Hill, where He shed His life’s blood for each and every man, woman, boy, and girl, that ever lived, is living, or will live upon this earth! Just let that sink in for a minute.

For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3: 17  And in Romans 10: 13, the Apostle Paul tells us

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

We have this promise through Jesus Christ. I thank God that through the drawing of His Holy Spirit, that one Sunday morning, I was drawn, to ask forgiveness for my sins. I finally realized, that I needed a Savior in my life, and I asked Jesus into my heart. He is true and faithful in that He forgave me of my sins, and threw them as far as the east is from the west, into the sea of forgetfulness, and has never, not one time, brought them up to me again! He washed my “blackboard” clean as a whistle, and will do the same for anyone! In the twinkleing of an eye! “Wow,” and there wasn’t a thing I had to do with it other than making the choice that He gave me the opportunity to make! “All glory be to you God!” I don’t guess it would be out of order to give God the glory in a 2nd. District Newsletter for what He has done for me! LOL

We had a Sunrise Service atMaple Groveas I know a lot of other churchs did also. Between the Sunrise Service and Sunday School, we had breakfast/refreshments. Julie Spencer fixed a big breakfast for everyone, and we also had dougnuts, lots of dougnuts! We mistakeingly double orderd, and ended up with sixteen dozen! But in my way of thinking, you can never have to many dougnuts! Anyway, it was a great day. And after worship service, the kids got to go on their annual egg hunt. We always have a good turn-out for that. We had quite a few visitors at our worship service, and we know the message Pastor Jimmy shared with us, didn’t go out void! Then later that afternoon, we got the priviledge of going into Traditions, and having our monthly nursing home visit. That is always such a blessing, hopefully for the residents, as much as it always is, for we the visitors! God is good………………………..all the time!

We are still having our Friday evening Bible Study at 7:00 P.M. However on the evening of the 13th. we put off our Bible Study, and instead had a cottage prayer meeting with Goldie! She has not been able to go to church lately like she was, so we brought church to her and it was very good. You know He said, “Where two or more are gathered in His name, there He will be in the midst.”

And He is, and He was!

We had our annual meeting for the election of officers and positions at our church on April 15th. We as a church, are saddened to have to announce that our Pastor Jimmy Spencer, has decided to step down. Jimmy has been our Pastor for about six years now, and we have come to love him and his wife Julie very much. They are both very humble, loving, people. Although we will miss Jimmy as Pastor, we wont have to miss Jimmy and Julie totally, because they are planning to stay atMaple Grove, and we are thankful for that. So we are in the process of asking the Lord once again, to supply us with a Pastor. And I know without a doubt, if we call upon His name in prayer, He will be faithful and true to provide. I just love being a Christian, how about you?

Well I guess I better begin to “shut er down” and give someone else some space on this newsletter. I love you all, and look forward to seeing you at Council. So until then, “May God continue to bless you and yours!”                                                                    Michael McGuire

STORMS

Well, May has arrived and with it above normal temperatures. So thankful for the mild winter we had and now this beautiful spring, one of the most beautiful that I can remember. God created a wonderful world for us to enjoy.

We had a wonderful Easter season here at Storms. We had Easter sunrise service at 7:00 a.m. on May 8th with a cantata.  Following the cantata we enjoyed donuts and coffee in the basement. Sunday school was at 9:00. We had a communion service on Easter evening worship service. It was a wonderful day of worship and praising God for sending His Son to die for us, and for the glorious hope that His resurrection gives us.

Our Ladies Aid meeting in April was held at the home of Phyllis Thompson. Tiffany Hutton was in charge of devotions. We have a lot of things planned for the coming year and we know that with God’s help we will see them accomplished.

April 25th was missionary night. Rob Bryant, who was recently called to preach, brought the message and did a wonderful job. We enjoyed having him and some his family and church members join us.

The men are planning a Mother’s day breakfast on Mother’s day. The senior youth will help serve what we expect will be a delicious breakfast. We have some men who are really good cooks in our church and we’re thankful for them.

Youth night was on April 28th with Jeff Krivak preaching and Melody and Roddy Van Gundy singing. Jeff preached a great message on having a more effective prayer life. And as usual the Van Gundy’s did a beautiful job of singing. We’re always glad to have them back “home” with us.

We are planning VacationBibleSchoolfor the week of June 4th.  Sasha Cooper is the director.

We want to wish our 1st elder Rodney Van Gundy a happy retirement from Glatfelter. He serves our church well and has for many years. I don’t think he’ll be spending much time in the rocking chair.

            Until next month…Terry Minney

BYINGTON

Hello Friends,

We are doing very well at Byington and have been experiencing a lot of incredible “old time meetings” here lately.  Spring has finally sprung which is a time of regeneration, new birth, and new life.  We are blessed to report a New Birth this morning when Ernie’s father, Paul Risner , came and gave his life to the Lord.  It was a time of shouting and singing since a new name was written down in Glory.  We always earnestly pray, then look forward to the Spirit moving in our services.

On April 8th, Easter Morning, we will be having a Sunrise Service at6:30.  We plan on having Communion after the service then breaking for refreshments.  Our Sunday School time has changed to 9:30 for that morning only.

Until next month, Angie Keller

DENVER

Greetings from Denver Chapel!  We continue to appreciate God and His goodness to us as we try to obediently follow Him and do His will. We have been blessed with five being saved this month:  Ronnie Euton, Ginny Mossbarger, Paula Schriner, Brittany Brown and Martha Ferguson.  Martha was saved at Adena Medical Center while she was a patient there.  God continues to call the lost; and, He can save any where–any time.  We’re grateful for these precious ones whose names have now been added to the Book of Life.

Lonnie Hamlin preached for us this month during our missionary service.  We certainly enjoyed having him with us, and he brought such a good message.  He and his wife, Freda, are very dear to everyone atDenver.  They are very faithful in their service to God and a joy to be in service with.

Our youth went to Pleasant Hill Manor in Piketon to have service with Pat Beatty, who has been a patient there for several weeks.  She was injured in an accident at home approximately 12 weeks ago and has been in and out of the hospital since that time.  She has made tremendous progress within the last couple of weeks and hopefully will be able to return home in a few weeks.  The kids really enjoyed the service not only with Pat; but, other residents heard their singing and had prayer requests for them.

Our church was also saddened with two deaths this month:  Patty Woods and Dean Shoemaker.  Patty is Richard’s mother, and Dean is Porter’s dad.  Both were ready to go HOME; therein, lies our peace and comfort not only for the church but especially for their families and friends.  Just the name of Jesus brings us peace and healing during difficult times.  It reminds us even more the importance of as well as the depth of God’s love for each of us as we approach another blessed Easter season.

Until next month–The truths of the Bible are like gold in the soil.  Whole generations walk over it and don’t realize what treasures are hidden beneath.

FERREE GILEAD

Hello everyone, March’s weather was very unusual this year.  There were some very strong storms in our area and even some reports of tornado’s touching down and doing some damage.  Praise the Lord no one was killed.

Our couples dance was a great success.  We raised over 1,000 dollars toward our ministry fund.  A family in the church has put out a challenge that for every dollar given toward the ministry fund they will match it up to 2,500 dollars for the next 30 days.

There is great preparation and prayer for our Easter program and we are all excited to see what the Lord will bless us with.  Where would we be and what kind of faith would we have without the great resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  The story of our sins being paid for will never get old.  What a price Jesus had to pay for our redemption.  Praise His wonderful name.

Pastor Dave has finished teaching the book of Hebrews.  We really enjoy how our Pastor takes us on these great journeys one verse at a time.  We learn so much and cannot wait to start the book of James.

We have two expecting mothers that are getting closer to delivery.  Jamie Smith is due by the middle of May and her baby shower was on the March 24th and many attended.   Jamie was very appreciative of the support and the wonderful gifts that were given.  Our pastor’s daughter Brandy is expecting her first baby in July.  The church will host a baby shower for her also in April.  Cuddy Rider had heart surgery and everything went very well.  Cuddy is healing and getting stronger every day.   Remember we cannot do everything but we all can do something.

God bless and Happy Easter from your friends at Ferree Gilead.

MAPLE GROVE

Once again here in God’s beautiful creation, we have the oportunity to witness the rebirth of life in nature.

The growing (the very very quick) growing of the grass, the budding of the trees and bushs, the spring flowers showing off their beauty and colors, reminding us once again, of our great and awesome God. We are reminded in the book of Romans 1:20, as the Apostle Paul writes, “For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.” How anyone could look upon nature’s beauty, and say there is no God, I cannot understand. I feel within myself that such people know in their hearts that God created it all, but they “choose” to believe a lie! I’ve heard it said that it takes more faith to believe there is not a God, than it does to believe there is a God! I believe that statement to be a true one.

It seems as though the month of March has stood up to it’s reputation as being the windy month. Because it sure has “blown” by us! We are still having our Friday night Bible Study here atMaple Grove, although this past Friday night (March30th.) we cancelled and attended the Christian Fellowship of Teens atHuntingtonHigh School. But Lord willing we will get back on track next week. I for one have found myself looking forward to it each week. It’s just another time we can fellowship with our loved ones. Our Christian loved ones! Our brothers and sisters in Christ! Anything Biblical is open to discussion here, and thanks to Patrick Wisecup, and his mothers delicious vegetable soup, that we request quite often, it makes it even more enjoyable.

Maple Grovestarted a Nursing Home visitation a couple of months back, that we all have found very rewarding as we knew we would. We look forward to the first Sunday afternoon of each month, to go to Traditions and visit and have church with the elderly. We get so blessed from it that we hate to leave, and find ourselves looking forward then to the next month. It is such a blessing to see our young people interacting with the residents. And they love the attention that anyone gives them. We have been blessed to have good turn-outs, both from our church and from the residents. It’s a win-win situation.

The last Sunday evening of each month, is put aside for our Youth Service. Our youth has went through some transitions, but are still the few and the faithful. We are expecting through Jesus Christ, to see our numbers start growing, but even more important then numbers, to see our dedication and faith in Jesus Christ to grow even more. This month Drew Kingery led the service, and Jonas Ferguson, our Youth Pastor, brought God’s word. He spoke of our Christian make-overs and how God changes us into the person He can use. It was really good. Both Drew and Jonas  done a wonderful job, and Jonas even sang a song while Drew played the guitar. I’m so proud of these two young men and their dedication to God. This goes for all our young people, God bless em all! When I see young people like this, serving the Lord as they do, it makes me think of all the time I missed, that I could have been serving, had I only knew the Lord as my personal savior. But our time is not His time! And His time is perfect. So I have to think that the day the Lord delt with my heart, and saved me, was perfect timing! Not on my part, but certainly on the Lord’s. I’m just so thankful He didn’t give up on me! Praise His name!

For our Missionary service this month, we invited Rev. Lou Watson from over in the Valley. Lou done a wonderful job of bringing God’s Word toMaple Grove. We welcome Lou and his wife Connie back anytime.

We are planning a Sunrise Service at7:00 A.M.Easter morning. We will be taking communion, singing God’s praises, and hearing God’s Word. Everyone is welcome, and we will be having refreshments between this service, and our Sunday School, which takes up at9:30 A.M.We will also be having our normal worship service beginning at10:30 A.M.Then after our worship service, an egg hunt is planned for the kids. The kids and parents alike, look forward to this. So boys shine those shoes up and girls get out those bonnets. Am I old fashioned or what? LOL

I pray in the days ahead, we all draw closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and do His will as best we know how! He said that if we will draw nigh unto Him, He will draw nigh unto us! Now I’m not the sharpest knife in God’s Heavenly Drawer, but I take that to mean, that if I want to see and feel God’s presence more and more in my life, then I should get off my duff, and do His work and witness more and more! We are not going to do to much, no matter what we do, in comparrason to what He done, and is doing for each of us! I believe it’s come time to close again for another month, and I do pray that we all, draw closer and closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Not only on the Holidays such as Easter, but even on the days when we feel so alone, and just need that little reassurance blessing He gives! To remind us He hasn’t gone any where.

May God continue to bless you and yours,                     Michael McGuire

PLEASANT VALLEY

Hello to everyone from here at the Valley.  What beautiful weather God had granted us so early in the season.  We were blessed with a mild winter also.  How can we ever thank and praise him enough?? We can’t, but we can try!

We were so blessed here at the Valley in March with much happening and many souls saved its hard to know where to begin.  We need to thank Brett Smith for the wonderful job he did bringing us God’s wonderful messages all 11 days of the revival and the Carter Sister & Cy for singing 8 days and Mack Newsome and his singers for Mon, Tues and Wed.  We also need to thank Marsha (Bretts’s Mother).  Through those messages we joyfully seen 8 souls saved, congratulations to Tyler Stifler, Christina Monan, Tyler Blosser, Jamie and Tina Carroll, Brandon Sublett, Malissa Stotridge and T.C. Mills.  We sure enjoy having Chestine and Mack Walk in services with us on Sunday evenings, and thank them for singing, playing piano and guitar for us. They are such a blessing.

We ask everyone to continue praying for those who has lost loved ones lately, the Shoemaker Family, Bob O’Neal, the Miller family, the Pollock family and of course those from other churches and communities.

We are looking forward to April, as we will be starting it off on April 1st with the Youth Easter program at 6:30 PM., April 8th we will have Sunrise service at 6:00 AM with Wayne McLaughlin bringing God’s word and singing,  April 11th Missionary service will be Rick Shoemaker, April 18th Youth service will be Jeff Smith & Family, April 25th will be our Bible Study, (Act 28) with John Aber and April 30th will be Men’s fellowship.  EVERYONE IS WELCOME.   Until next month, remember…

THE GOD WHO WASHED AWAY OUR SINS WILL ALSO WIPE AWAY OUR TEARS!

(This is my comfort in my afflictions, for Your Word has given me life. Psalm 119:50)

STORMS

We want to wish all of you a very happy and blessed Easter season. What a wonderful, holy and spiritual time of year it is! We are remembering the price that was paid for our sins and rejoicing in the hope that the resurrection of our Lord and Savoir brings.

And what a beautiful Spring God has blessed us with: warm temperatures and an abundance of blossoms in the new life that we see all around us. It’s a time of renewal and spiritual growth for the Christian, and a time when everyone should see His power in all that He has created.

We had a wonderful revival in March with Major Montgomery as the evangelist. As usual he did an outstanding job in bringing God’s word to us. His week was shortened by two deaths in his family, a brother-in-law and a nephew. We appreciate Gary Sollars filling in for Major. We also had to shorten the revival because of a death in our own church family. Jack McCloskey passed away on Wednesday, March 14th. His viewing and funeral took place on Saturday and Sunday. He was an elder and Sunday school teacher for many years at Storms and we all loved him and will miss him terribly. We send our condolences to his wife, Dorothy and family.

On March 21st we had a spring-cleaning day at the church. We had a lot of good help so it didn’t take very long.

Debbie Van Gundy and Suzie Ward did a beautiful job of decorating the church. Our junior and senior youth presented a program on Palm Sunday morning. The junior youth advisors, Tonja Grubb and Suzie Ward, along with senior advisors, Jason and Sasha Cooper did an outstanding job. Our young people are such a big part of our church. We love them and are so proud of them and the way they use their many talents to glorify God.

On March 15th we had a going away party for Dakota Black who will be leaving to serve in the Military soon. We have enjoyed Dakota being a part of our church and we will keep him always in our thoughts and prayers.

We are collecting baby items for Elizabeth’s Hope. The shower will be held at the Maple Grove Christian Union Church on April 10th.

We are having a Good Friday service beginning at7:30 p.m.A reenactment of the crucifixion of Christ will be presented along with a musical cantata. The directors are, Angel Raines and Jason and Tiffany Hutton and as always our pianist, Randy Minney.

On Easter Sunday we will have a sunrise service at7:00 a.m.There will be a reenactment of the resurrection of Christ along with a musical cantata. A coffee and donut break will follow then Sunday school will follow the break. There will be an Easter egg hunt for the kids following Sunday school. Sunday evening we will be having a communion service at7:00 p.m.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)                  Terry Minney

BYINGTON

Hello Friends,

Spring is still a few weeks away but new signs of life have already started to appear. We can see the changes that God is making in nature around us but the most exciting work is the “new life” that occurs inside of us.

We are doing very well at Byington as God transforms us through His chastisement and correction.  We had an exceptional revival at the beginning of February.  Mike Blanton and Evidence did a wonderful job singing and preaching each night.  The Bakenhasters were with us on the Sunday of our revival to continue the Revival Spirit, who also did a fabulous job.  We had a total of three souls saved for the duration of the revival, Carrie Maxwell, Tedd Purdin, and his daughter, Brianna.  We are very thankful for God’s convicting spirit and their obedience.

We are currently collecting money in baby bottles to help benefitElizabeth’s Hope.  The Christian based non-profit organization that is presenting hope to young mother’s who are desperately in need of God’s help and support.

We seek God’s guidance in all of our endeavors and expect Him to continue to bless our church.  We could use your prayers as we seek His will to see souls saved and His work accomplished.

Until next month, Angie Keller

FERREE GILEAD

Can you believe the mild winter that we are having?  The warm weather has been so nice.  We had a brother in Christ leave this world and went to be with the Lord.  Our Pastor’s wife, Sherry’s brother, Rusty Seymoure, passed away on February 5th.  He fought a tough illness for the last nine years and finally the Lord called Rusty home.  Rusty loved the Lord and will be missed.

The together all generations (TAG) service went very well.  The children’s sword drill winner was Nellie Parrish.  The adult sword drill came down to Pastor Dave and Michaela McCoy again.  Michaela was a little faster on the draw this time and won.  The kids had a Jeopardy game about the Bible and had Pastor Dave, Greg and Mike against Sherry, Janet and Jamie.  The men won the game but the men gave their prizes to the ladies.  How sweet.

The men’s and ladies meeting went very well.  The men’s devotion was on how the Bible teaches that leaders of the church are to be blameless and live holy lives.  There was some very good discussion and points brought out.  The ladies discuss the upcoming events and made plans to see them done.  They had a very good dinner and great fellowship.

The triple S service (Sunday Soldiers Service) was a blessing.  The theme was ‘Love.”  The puppet show was very instructive and humorous.  Pastor Dave used balloons for his sermon and it was very good and it blessed everyone.  The children really remember Pastor Dave’s sermons because usually he uses object lessons to teach and preach the Bible.  The youth, Greg and Pastor Dave danced and sang “My Lord”.  Kids did a skit called, “Do you know what love is?”  It was written by Jesse Reed and Sandy Blankenship.  We really thank the Lord for their love for the youth and for the Lord.

Adam Smith has finally acknowledged his calling to preach.  Please pray for him as he continues to be obedient to the Lord’s calling.  It is always a blessing to see God call men to preach.

We praise the Lord for the answered prayers of healing for Carl Barnett and Trish Bolen.  Remember all of our shut-ins, sick and Cuddy Rider who faces surgery.  The Lord shall provide.

Please pray for our sweetheart/couple’s dinner on March 10th

Please check out our facebook page.  ferreegileadcu@yahoo.com  Remember, we cannot do everything but we all can do something.

God bless from your friends at Ferree Gilead.

MAPLE GROVE

Hello from Maple Grove!

I don’t know about you, but this beautiful weather we have been having the last few days, is beginning to give me spring fever. I know we probably still have plenty of winter weather to go, but I can still hope that spring won’t be to far off. I’m beginning to see a little patch of green here and there, and as I was coming back from the hospital this evening, I seen a tractor out in the field working the ground. That’s always a good sign. Spring brings to mind the little seeds as they enter the ground and the change in their form begins. They begin to grow into the plant, tree, flower or bush, of which their seed is. A change begins to take place. Just as we will be changed, in the twinkling of an eye,  when our Lord and Savior returns to this earth to Rapture His church off this earth, and back to Heaven with Him where we will live and reign with Him forever. He said “If it were not true, I would have told you!” I believe these words with all my heart! How about you?

AtMaple Grovethis month, we had our annual Valentines Dinner, and we had it at the church. Melissa Ward took charge of this along with some of our teens. They prepared a spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings and it was great. Then the youth took care of all the serving. A big thanks to all that helped in this project. You know who you are, and so does our Lord! And thanks to everyone that attended as we also had several visitors. And we as a church hope these visitors come back and see us. Melissa also invited Pastor Corey Summars there to speak, and he also did a wonderful job. Thanks to everyone!

We have young Christians at our church that are “wanting” to work for the Lord, and they are very inspirational for me. And I want to help them, and encourage them in any way I can. For instance, last year Christy Moraleja and her girls, put on a yard sale under our shelter house for the tornado victims inJoplin,Missouri. As a result, a $1000.00 dollar check was delivered to a church there to use towards repair. Christy with the help of Holly Gee, Melissa Ward, and Megan Ward, repainted our nursery room, put up borders, and stenciling. They did a great job.

This year Melissa and husband, Lenny, have decided to take on the job this summer, of having an all day, one weekBibleSchooland Christian Day Care. Complete with breakfast, and lunch for a week. They wanted to do this for a mission project on their part. I applaud and deeply respect these people for their efforts. We older Christians could and should, take a play from their play book! And thank God for the desire in their hearts to do for someone else. That’s what it’s all about, people.

This past Sunday evening we had our monthly youth service where our Youth Pastor, Jonas Ferguson, brought forth God’s word. Jonas does a very good job getting his point across. I think he’s been taking lessons from our Pastor Jimmy!

Well it’s about time to close again for this month, and my hope for the up-coming months is to maybe lead more of our loved ones to Christ. We all have unsaved in our families. We need to lead by example. Not only in church, but mainly outside, in our everyday lives! Until next time, this is Michael McGuire saying “May God continue to bless you and yours!”

STORMS

March has arrived and the signs of spring are in the air. We’ve had a very mild winter for which we are thankful, but spring flowers are popping their heads up out of the ground and some trees are even budding.  We’ve started practicing for the Easter cantata so that’s a definite sign that spring is on its way. Angel Raines and Jason Hutton are the directors this year along with Randy Minney, our pianist. We always look forward to this most holy of holidays that reminds us of the price that our Savior paid for us on the cross.

Victoria Faith Raines was dedicated to God on February 5th. She is the daughter of proud parents, Barry and Angel Raines. We call her a miracle baby because after twenty years of marriage and adopting eight children, they finally got baby Tori. She is such a blessing to her family and our church. It was an added blessing that morning when three of the Raines children returned to God. We are so thankful for this family; they have added so much to our church and we know that there are more blessings ahead.

On February 12th, after the evening service, we had a time of fellowship to celebrate Valentines Day. We enjoyed sandwiches and snacks along with some delicious desserts. More importantly a young woman was saved in the evening service. We’re praying that God will strengthen her each day.

Youth night was February 26th. Adam Cooper led the service and our own Angie Anderson preached. Roddy and Melody Van Gundy were the singers for the evening. Everyone did a wonderful job.

Three couples from our church, Dean and Kay Rinehart, Rodney and Debbie Van Gundy, Bill and myself, along with Jerry and Nancy Long from Beulah Chapel went toMerritt Island,Floridato work with Teen Missions for a week. We were also joined two of those days by Linda Rickert, our cousin, who winters atCape Canaveral. We lived onHeavenly Streetalong withShannon, Vikki, Maddy and Zoe Bobb. We accomplished several jobs while we were there. We met and worked with some wonderful people and learned so much more about the great work that Teen Missions does here and in other countries. It was so good to spend time with the Bobbs again. We miss them but appreciate the work they are doing at Teen Missions.

We are preparing for revival on March 12th, 7:30 each night, with Major Montgomery preaching. Local talent will be singing. We will be having a community door to door visitation on March 9th from4-6 p.m. to encourage the church community to attend. We have so many in our families also who need to be saved. Please pray that we will see fruits for our labor.

            Until next month, Terry Minney.

ANTIOCH

It is hard to believe it is January 30th with the 50 degree temperature we have today! We sure have been blessed with a mild winter so far.

December was a very busy month for us here at Antioch, with the play practice and all the other family activities going on. The Christmas play was Dec.11; the title was “The Mouse’s Tale”. Everyone involved with the play did a wonderful job! All of the children did great with their parts and we had some awesome rappin’ camels! Chad Scott performed a special skit and he did a great job as always!! Lots of family and friends came out to see the performances and we were so glad to get to tell them about Jesus and his love for us!!

Dec.18 the children had a Happy Birthday party to celebrate the birth of Jesus during Sunday school. A fun time was had by all! The church came together and gathered items for our Christmas baskets. We gave to five needy families this year.

Special singers were at the New Years Day Sunday evening service. I was unable  to attend due to illness, but was told we missed a wonderful service!

After Sunday evening service on Jan.15 we had a surprise 60th wedding anniversary celebration for Bro. Raymond & Sis. Mary Kruger. Cake and ice cream was served; we all enjoyed the fellowship. I can’t say enough for the wonderful Christian example that they are to all of us!

Plans have been made for a revival March 19-24, nightly at7:00 p.m.with Rev. Sammie Cooper and singers Borrowed Time.

I have a special prayer request for Sis. Tammy Coleman’s brother, Gary Nachtrab. He is battling cancer; please keep him and his family in your prayers.

Please keep our church in your prayers and we will be praying for yours.   Ina Butcher

BYINGTON

Hello Friends,

The first month of 2012 has already flown by as we excitingly prepared for our Revival, which will begin this Thursday, February 2.  Mike Blanton and Evidence will be ministering Thursday through Saturday, with services starting 7:30 nightly.  The Bakenhasters will be with us on Sunday, February 5, in both the morning, (11:00 am) and evening, (6:00 pm) services.

We have been experiencing a wonderful, Revival Spirit in our services lately and expect it to continue throughout the week.  Please join us in praying that our loved ones and neighbors will come and be saved.

Until next month, Angie Keller

DENVER CHAPEL

Greetings from Denver Chapel!  As another month in a new year quickly passes, we remain thankful and grateful to God for His goodness to us.  He remains the same faithful and merciful God, the One and only stable Force and Power in our lives.

We were unable to have our monthlyTiffinTowerservice this month due to the icy road conditions at the time; but we look forward to February’s service with the residents there.  They are precious people with very special needs, and they do their best to serve God and obey Him.

At the end of last month, our youth had a fun evening out with a night of bowling and pizza afterward.  They had a great time and good fellowship together.  We appreciate our youth leaders and the others who went along to help and chaperone.  Cindy and Julie do a wonderful job with the kids, and we are thankful for their leadership.

We’re looking forward to the Spring revivals that will be scheduled soon.

We are planning to have a revival March 12-17.  We understand that has become a popular revival scheduling time and that at least two other sister churches will be having revivals that week, too.

We pray there will be a great revival outbreak and stirring with many lost being saved during these services.  What a wonderful report that would be for March’s Newsletter to be filled with names of new converts whose souls have been saved during these revivals.  We’re looking forward to attending Byington’s revival this week and pray they’ll have many saved in their services.

We’re excited and thrilled to report that we had three come to an altar of prayer on Sunday, the 29th; two in the a.m. service and one in the p.m. service.  Pray for their spiritual roots to grow deep and strong in the Lord as they serve Him.

Until next month–History can be changed by the courage of God’s people.

FERREE GILEAD

2012 has really gotten off to a great start for us at Ferree Gilead.  The services have been so Spirit-filled.  Brother Greg has done a wonderful job leading the services.  You can tell that Pastor Dave, Greg and Michaela are prayed up and ready to lead the music in the services.  We have really enjoyed the sermon series that Pastor Dave has started.  The series is called “Moving Forward.”  The church, our families and our own walk with God, needs to keep moving forward.

The Lord has really blessed us with several new families in the past three weeks.  Some of new families are due to April Montgomery who has been doing a great job witnessing to her family.  Her parents, Carl and Georgie, have been coming for the last three to four weeks.  Her brother, Jason has been coming the last two weeks.  Please pray for their salvation.

Our monthly men’s and ladies meeting was very good as always.  We had great fellowship and very good devotions.  The ladies are getting ready for a sweethearts dance which will be used as a ministry and a fundraiser for our projector fund.

The Lord has really blessed our church with some great youth.  We had about twenty-two children with the youngest at eighteen months old up to fourteen years old last Sunday morning.   We have quite a few babies in the church and several mothers expecting in a few months.  I am glad that Pastor Dave tells us all the time how he loves the sound of babies in the church.  Some people are worried about the little ones making too much noise but Pastor Dave tells them, “If I cannot preach over a baby then I will not preach.”  We have been blessed by Jacob and Christen singing duets for the Lord.  We are thankful for everyone that has a calling to minister to the youth.  We can see the results of their labor.

Please remember the Montgomery family in prayer.  Chuck Montgomery went on to be with the Lord on January 29.  Brother Chuck will be missed.  He loved to sing and preach for the Lord.  His testimonies were always filled with the desire to see people saved.  Remember in prayer his loving wife Connie, his daughters, Sandy, Cindy, his sons, entire family and all of his friends.

The children wanted to help with the fundraiser for the projector equipment so they are doing a penny march once a month.  It is such a blessing to see the children learning to give.  We want our children to learn that their giving is not really to the church but to the Lord.  We have joined withElizabeth’s Hope again this year to raise funds to help young women get the help and education they need to save as many babies from abortion as possible.  We cannot do everything but we all can do something.  God bless from your friends at Ferree Gilead.

MAPLE GROVE

Hello from Maple Grove

Hope everyone has been weathering well. So far I don’t think we can complain. As I’m sitting here writing this newsletter it is around 60 degrees. Can’t beat that for January. I also hope everyone has been well in body and even better in your spiritual body. You know to keep your body purring along, we have to eat right, exercise, and get enough sleep. And for our spiritual body we need to pray unceasingly (as the Bible says), and read our Bible as much as possible, and what’s the last one? You guessed it, going to church! Fellowshipping with our Christian brothers and sisters. That to me is so very important. God knew what we needed to keep strong and to stay in the center of His will. He doesn’t need for us to attend church, but He knew that’s what “we” needed.

I also hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and the New Year is starting out good for you. If you are into New Year’s resolutions, then probably a good one for all of us would be to draw closer to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And to keep close to our hearts, what He has done, and what He is doing in our Christian lives. I often think how blessed we are to live under this age and time of Grace! The precious gift that He has bestowed on all of us that have accepted Him as our personal Savior. Talking about your Christmas gifts, there is none better!

In the month of February, we will be starting a new nursing home visitation the first Sunday afternoon of each month at Traditions. Brett Smith is heading this effort up as he has got the needed paperwork taken care of, so, Lord willing, we will be visiting on the 5th of February, from 4 P.M. to 5 P.M. They are looking forward to seeing us and we are looking forward to being there. Please keep us in your prayers that maybe through Jesus Christ we can win souls to Him. They tell us that we could have somewhere between 50 to 75 or possibly even 100 at a service. Wouldn’t that be great?

At Maple Grove we have our Missionary Service on the last Wednesday evening of the month. This month our speaker was Terry Aldenderfer from the 1st.Church of God in Chillicothe. Terry works at Kenworth and probably a lot of you know him. He done a wonderful job and I would highly recommend him for your missionary service. Our pastor, Jimmy Spencer, has been preaching wonderful messages to our church. We think a lot of Jimmy and his wife, Julie. They are a team for sure.

We had to call our Sunday services off on the 22nd of January due to our parking lot being covered with ice. Sure don’t like to have to call off services, but we don’t want someone falling and getting hurt either. We had an outside water leak at our church, for which we had to run a whole new water line all the way to the road. But Ryan Smith, one of our trustees, got on top of this with the help of Harvey Bales and his crew, and got it taken care of without much destruction at all. Looks good! Thanks guys!

We are planning a Valentine’s Dinner at our church on February 11 and our youth will be doing the serving, maybe the cooking too, and clean up for sure! Ha Ha! We are thankful for our youth, and like all other churches, are hoping to grow our youth constantly. But we mostly want to grow them in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. We have Bible Study at our mid-week services with the exception of Missionary night. Patrick Wisecup takes care of this and does a great job at it. We have also started a Friday evening Bible study again, as some of our new converts requested this and we are very happy to try and provide. We have a good time trying to answer each others questions, just discussing Biblical questions as they come to our mind. We are currently doing this every Friday evening at 7:00 P.M. So if you have nothing else to do, stop in and see us and let us pick your brain!

This past Sunday evening our youth watched the new movie that’s out called “Couragess.” It is a really good Christian movie if you haven’t already watched it. It never ceases to amaze me, that when I start writing this Newsletter, I begin to wonder what I’m going to say. And then before it’s over with, I can hardly get stopped! But anyway, I had better close for now so Jeff will have some room for the other churches.

Keep Maple Grove in your prayers always please. So until next time, this is Michael McGuire hoping that God will continue to Bless You and Yours! Hello from Maple Grove,

PLEASANT VALLEY

Hello to everyone from here at the Valley!   Hope everyone finds the New Year to be as blessed as we do here in the valley.  Not only have we been blessed with so much beautiful and mild weather for January, we are all so blessed to have the hearts desire to serve an Awesome God.  Everywhere we look we can see his beauty. Thank you, Jesus.  We are so thankful for our visitor speakers in January.

Wonderful messages from our Missionary speaker, Tom Johnson and Brett Smith as a guest preacher at a Sunday night service.  Not to forget to thank our very own Lou Watson preaching youth service. (All did wonderful bringing us God’s Word.)  We also had our fun time as our Men’s Fellowship cooked a wonderful breakfast for the women Saturday, 28th  (food was great and they had super entertainment with Tim Carl singing.)  What a voice he had and what a crowd we had.

On Monday evening, 30th, Men’s Fellowship had a Chicken Noodle dinner.  What a turnout they had.  About 40 men were in attendance representing several area churches. Singers were Ryan and Ryan and bringing the Word was Rev. Dane Knapp.

Although we had a busy January we are planning a busy February and March…and hopefully a busy 2012 working to see souls saved.  February 8 missionary, Mike Cross will be bringing us God’s Word.  Our Valentine’s dinner will be on February 15, with George Lore speaking and his wife, Sara, singing (Sara’s schedule permitting). Can’t wait; they do such a great job working for the Lord.  Also, looking ahead to March with the plans to have our revival from the 11th till at least the 18th, ; its all in Gods hands.  Brett Smith will be preaching and the Carter Sisters will be singing.

We ask an interest in your prayers for our family at the Valley as we have had some sickness.  John and Jean Aber has been battling the ole flu bug among other health issues that our Big God knows all about and is very much able to take care of. Our Pastor Glenn Newland has been fighting some health problems.  We sure do miss him when he andReginacannot be with us.  RememberReginatoo, she is such a blessing and big part of our family!  Remember Lou Watson as he is undergoing some serious testing and possible treatment, Steve Rinehart as he is recovering from surgery, also Chuck Holmes, Jean Moran, Hattie O’neal and all those I may have failed to mention, but God knows them all.  We also want to thank God for being with Dick and Tomi Shoemaker as God watched over Sophia through her health issue.  God is Sooooo Good!!!!

As we close the January newsletter we want to leave a thought to ponder:

NOTHING SPEAKS MORE CLEARLY OF GOD’S LOVE THAN THE CROSS OF JESUS CHRIST.

“God has sent His only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him” …. 1 John 4:9

STORMS CHAPEL

We are so thankful for the mild winter that we’ve had so far. It was 62 today and it sure did feel like spring.

Things have really slowed down around Storms Chapel since the holidays, but we are already making plans for the months ahead.

On January 25 we had missionary night with Greg Trent preaching. We always enjoy having Greg back “home” and always enjoy his preaching.  Youth night was on January 29. Jeff Krivak preached a wonderful message with a lot of good instructions for all of us. We also enjoyed the singing of Josie and Sadie Tornberg from Liberty Hill Christian Union church. They have beautiful voices and their songs had good messages for young and old alike.

We have a revival planned for March 12. We’ll give more details in next month’s newsletter.

A cleaning day is planned at the church for March 20.

We are collecting old eyeglasses and medical items for missionaries. We will be fixing a sunshine box for a radiation patient. We continue to restock our food pantry.

We will be having a Valentine fellowship, consisting of finger sandwiches and desserts on February 12 following the evening service.

Several people from our church will be traveling to Merritt Island,Florida in February to work with Teen Missions on some projects there. Pray for safe traveling and that God will bless the work for the up- building of His kingdom. I will give more of a report in next month’s newsletter.

Plans are also being made for Vacation Bible School in June.

In all these things we ask for God’s guidance and help, because without Him it would have no meaning.

Please continue to pray for our church that we will be what the body of Christ should be, united in love and worship of a Holy God.

            Until next month, Terry Minney

Happy New Year

BYINGTON

Hello Friends,

December was quite a busy month here at Byington but we were blessed.  We had a small Christmas play that went very well, thanks to all those who helped out and participated in it.  We also had a women’s Christmas party with a lot of good fellowship, food, games, and gifts.  We also collected a love offering for a family who attends our church that we in need during the Christmas season.

2011 is officially over and I can honestly say that Byington had a very productive year.  To clarify all the rumors going round, Byington is still doing very well and Jeff and Mandy are still pastoring the church.  However, we can always use the prayer!  We started the year out with an AMAZING, SPIRITUAL, service with Bobby Williamson giving his heart and life to the Lord.

We are looking forward to another great year and are planning a Revival for February 2, 3, and 4 with Mike Blanton ministering each night. Come and be in service with us, if not, pray for us for we have family, friends, and neighbors we would like to see saved!  When you make your New Year’s Resolution this year, remember what Ecclesiastes 5:5 says, ”Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.”

Until next month, Angie Keller

FERREE GILEAD

The Men’s and Ladies meeting for December had another good turn out.  The ladies provided a wonderful and delicious Christmas meal for us all.  Greg Taylor had a very good devotion for the men about, “Distractions.”

We prayed for our 2011 Christmas program and God really blessed.  We had some much ministry to share with others this Christmas, that for the first time we had to use two Sundays in a row to get it all out.  Praise the Lord!  The attendance for the first program on the 11th was a little over 90.

The Choir did a lovely job with songs and readings and it was called, “The Sign.”  The Children’s program led by Jessica Reed and Sandy Blankenship was wonderful.  The children’s Christmas choir did a fantastic job.  Trish Schilling’s class had a reading.  It is really special to see how Trish works with the little babies of the church so they can also give God the glory.  Nellie Parrish sang, “Suzie Snowflake.”  Nellie and Christin Blankenship sang, “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth.”  Clay Fout sang, “Happy Birthday Jesus.”

Pastor Dave and Brittany Conley sang “Mary did you know.”  Kenny Roberts sang “Silver bells,” Greg Talyor sang a song he wrote, “A mother’s son.” Sandy Blankenship and Jessica Reed sang “O little Star of Bethlehem,” and Erin Fout sang “When love was born.”

The skit, “A Christmas Family Feud,” was very funny had a great point.  The play written by Cindy Parrish, “The Visitor,” was a story how a pastor needs to listen to God and not try to please people in the church.  The Christmas message does not need to be changed or different to be received but just presented as the Bible tells it.  Pastor Dave’s sermon was very good.  The title was, “What do you think of when you think about Christmas?”

The church presented Pastor Dave his birthday and Christmas gift.  Pastor Dave will start on his Master’s in Nursing in 2012, so the Church got him a very nice computer tablet.

On the December 18th service, Erin Fout sang, “The Little Drummer Boy,” and the children played their drums.  Isaiah Parrish sang, “Did you hear what I hear?”  The youth had some readings about Christmas and told the story about the, “Candy Cane.”  The church honored the pastor’s wife, Sherry, for her great service to the Lord by serving others at the church.

Pastor Dave and his four year old grandson, Kyton Conley preformed the yearly tradition song, “The hat I got for Christmas is too big.”  Pastor Dave started doing that song back in the 90’s and he has had different children help him out throughout the years.  The Pastor’s sermon was titled, “Christmas Gifts You Need.”   The message was about God’s gift of justification and how that impacts our position with God.

On Wednesday night service, Pastor Dave hosted the annual Christmas Trivia game.  It was a close match between Michaela McCoy’s team and Greg Taylor’s team.   Michaela’s team won over Brother Greg’s team by only fifty points.  What fun everyone had and we all learned something at the same time.

We are in prayer for the coming year.  We have three very special little bundles of joy coming in 2012.  Greg and Darlene Taylor are expecting their first grandchild in January.  Dwight and Jamie Smith are expecting their first child in May.  Rob and Brandy Deering are expecting their first child in July.  Anyone what to babysit?  (Laugh out Loud)  God bless and have a blessed 2012 from all your friends at Ferree Gilead, Sherry Conley

STORMS CHAPEL

HAPPYNEWYEAR EVERYONE! It is with a sigh of relief that we say good-bye to 2011, the worst year of my life personally, and probably one of the worst years in Storms Chapel’s history. We are trusting in God and believing that 2012 will be a better year for all of us. We have found that God has been faithful through the trials that last year brought and realize that we are a closer to God and each other as a result. The love among our members and the support that we’ve given each other has been the “glue” that has held us together. We continue to pray for healing from the wounds that these trials have left and that we will continue to be the “Soul Saving Station” that God intends for us to be.

On December 15th, twenty-two ladies plus some of our senior girls met for a Christmas cookie exchange. Marianne Lambert and her daughter, Maggie, graciously invited us all to their home for some delicious hot soups and wonderful Christian fellowship. We each brought five dozen cookies and filled our trays with a wonderful variety of tempting treats. Thanks Marianne and Maggie for your hospitality!

Our junior youth presented a play on Sunday December 18th. . It was great as usual, thanks to the advisors, Suzie Ward and Tonja Grubb. They had lots of help from some of the mothers of the kids too. We really appreciate all the effort that goes into putting on these plays. After the play our pastor, Sammie Cooper and wife, Eydie and daughter Maria, were presented gifts of our appreciation for all they do for our church.

Our Christmas Cantata was presented in the evening service on the 18th. Debbie VanGundy and Randy Minney were the directors. We had a full house for both programs that day. We pray that God used these programs to touch someone’s heart and to remind us all once a gain of the true meaning of Christmas. Following the cantata we enjoyed coffee and doughnuts in the basement.

After the morning service our Sunday school superintendent, Roger Hinshaw, handed out a bag of candy and an orange to each one attending.

On Wednesday evening, December 21st, the senior youth presented a Christmas play written by our own Kaity Anderson. It was very well done and they all did a great job! The senior advisors are Jason and Sasha Cooper and they also have lots of helpers whenever they need them. Thanks to all of you for all your hard work!

On December 17th the youth went to the Cincinnati zoo to see the Christmas light display. Then on December 27th they took a trip to theCreationMuseum. They always have fun being together and enjoying good Christian fellowship.

It was so good the have the Bobb’s home for the holidays. We love and appreciate them so much for the work that they do for the Lord. They were also our missionary speakers on December 28th, and as usual gave such an interesting talk on what they do at Teen Missions and the mission trips that they have planned for the coming year. They left the following day forFlorida, so it’s back to work for them.

We here at Storms wish you all a blessed and happy new year.  Terry Minney
